Who's behind This?

Cuong Dang

Born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, a beautiful country of loving people, exotic beaches and exquisite cuisines. I left Vietnam and came to the U.S. in late 2002 to study abroad.

I've been spending most of my early twenties in the U.S. and adapted a new philosophy of life outside a much-restricted Vietnamese culture. I've found the world to be a much bigger place with the freedom and potential for opportunities so that one may enjoy life.

I met a beautiful, young woman, Vanda Wilder, on an abroad trip in London with Maryville University. Foolishly, I fell in love with the siren and she later became my life partner.

Professional Bio

I'm a Marketing Creative Director overseeing the product UI and on-line marketing at Engage Software.  This position was created for my talent in enhancing the user experience by bridging the gap between technology and the general audience.

Since Engage was named Official DotNetNuke Training Provider, I became an instructor of DotNetNuke skinning and module UI for business professionals.

I also am a technical reviewer for DotNetNuke Skinning (ISBN-13: 978-1847192783), a book published in May 2008 by PACKT Publishing Company (based in the U.K.); I also speak frequently for DotNetNuke User Group meetings in St. Louis.

In addition, I've had numerous international business experiences in Southeast Asia.  Prior to joining Engage Software, I was the Business Development Executive at Minh Phuong Co., Ltd. in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Because of my international business experience, I was invited to be a frequent speaker for Maryville University MBA students about global marketing and management focusing in Southeast Asia region.

Maryville University of Saint Louis is my alma mater where I gained a background in Marketing and Management focusing at international studies.

Colophon

This site is built using DotNetNuke, a powerful open source framework (using Microsoft ASP.NET platform). All content was managed using Engage: PUBLISH.

The site presentation in DotNetNuke referred to as a "skin," and it is designed and built using an XHTML/CSS approach with web standards and accessibility compliance in mind.

Through my experience of working with DotNetNuke for clients and training business professionals nationwide, it is my hope that this site will encourage people involved with DotNetNuke to build web standard applications, and websites using this framework.

Because Navigation WebControls in DotNetNuke provide more of a non-web-standard approach, I decided to use HouseMenu by Tim Rolands instead to reduce browser load time and to increase accessibility.

Tools

I created this site entirely using Apple products. TextMate helps the job of coding XHTML easy for me. I use CSSEdit for layouts and styles. All the graphic work are done in Adobe Photoshop.
